REAL STORIES

There’s no better way to see what an apprenticeship is really like, than by getting to know an apprentice. That’s what we did with 13 very different people, filming several of them in their day-to-day lives, meeting their families and hearing their stories.

We learnt about their hopes for the future, their work, and their studies. Below are the films of four of our apprentices, so If you’re wondering if an apprenticeship is for you, or where to start - then have a look at them at work, and see what they have to say.

MEET XAVIER

Xavier Williams

18 | Finance | Lloyds Banking Group | Birmingham

Xavier has always been ambitious, so despite his parents wanting him to go to university, he chose to get into the work place right away. He applied for a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration at Lloyds Banking Group and got the job. He’s already been selected to work abroad and believes he’s learnt more in the past 18 months than he has in the rest of his life.

MEET HOLLY

Holly Thompson

19 | Project Management | Halifax | Lloyds banking group

For Holly, choosing to do an apprenticeship was the best decision she’s ever made. After achieving great A level results and being offered a place at the University of Leeds, Holly chose to do an apprenticeship. Taking a Level 4 Project Management apprenticeship with Lloyds banking group, she is earning while learning and gaining a qualification.

Abbie Hogarth

Abbie was at Newcastle University when she realized she wanted practical experience as well as a degree, so she applied for a Level 5 Apprenticeship at the BBC. Now she gets to do her dream job in TV, and the BBC supports her through her degree in Business Management.

MEET LUCY

Lucy Sarginson

19 | IT | Accenture | Whitley Bay

Lucy always wanted to work in IT, applying twice for an apprenticeship at Accenture. On her second attempt she got in to do a level 4 apprenticeship. As a code debugger, her job’s highly confidential, so she can’t tell her parents much about it. When she’s not debugging code, Accenture pay for her to go to University to do her degree in IT.
